Our Values: From a Galaxy Far, Far Away to an Office in Tacoma
If you have ever visited our office, then you know that we are Star Wars fans. Our conference rooms are named for Star Wars planets and decorated accordingly. Mandalorian helmets are on the walls of Mandalore. Ahch-To is a lounge with moss panels, porgs and a meditating Yoda statue. Grogu can be spotted playing with a shifter knob above the sink in our kitchen, the Cantina.

Amidst the galaxy of Star Wars posters and themed décor enveloping our walls, there’s one in particular that commands attention — a wall featuring our six core values: Build Trust, Dedication, Teamwork, Research, Get $#!* Done and Stay Curious. This wall isn’t just a decoration, it’s a constant beacon, reminding us of our purpose and guiding our actions daily.

So, prepare to tap into your Star Wars expertise as we explore the parallels between our values and the lessons of the saga. From our commitment to our clients, our work and our team, this is how our values intersect with the Star Wars Universe:
- Building Trust, a plot-defining theme in Star Wars, is also the foundation of everything we do at SiteCrafting. We’ve seen how trust in false promises can lead to the fall of a republic (cough, cough Anakin). We’ve also seen how trusting in your allies is necessary for a successful mission. Whether that’s destroying the Death Star, or making an accessible, cohesively designed website, we hold trust in the highest regard in our relationships with clients and each other.
- Dedication takes us directly to Rogue One where Jyn, Cassian and fellow rebels dedicate their lives to the resistance — and they know they must put in 100 percent effort every step of the way. At SiteCrafting, we are dedicated to building the best possible solutions for our clients and combine our efforts to ensure success in all everything we do from discovery and design to development and post-launch.
- Teamwork, whether working with Jedi, droids, designer or developers; Everyone has a unique set of strengths they bring to the table. In Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, someone has to open the blast door while one Skywalker is battling another (thank you R2). At SiteCrafting, we don’t blast down doors, but even so, we know our teammates will step up to the challenge and be willing to put forward their unique skills to contribute to our greater purpose.
- We Research with the Force similarly to how Jedi look within and consider conflicts of the past. To build the best product or user experience for our clients, we too must take the time to do our research. We pay attention to the details, audit frequently, and take a data-informed approach to how we solve problems.
- Getting $#!* Done is a value Luke could learn from. His complaining nature in Episode Four, for example, not to mention his whining disposition has been enough to make early Luke a running joke. At SiteCrafting we persevere and move forward under all circumstances, look for ways to better our work and embrace new challenges.
- Stay Curious channels our inner Boba Fett. Boba adopts the allyship of the Tusken Raiders through his curiosity about how they survive the desert landscape. He learns all sorts of best practices that many others do not know of and develops unique skills under their guidance. We stay curious because we know new ideas and new knowledge make us stronger. Staying curious also reminds us to modify our practices so we can continue to grow.

In our office, where the Force meets the daily grind, our values help us stay as committed as a Jedi through all our professional endeavors. Our values are more than words on a wall and the figurines and lightsabers are more than office decor — it’s all a reminder of the deep connection we have with our work and each other, embodying the resilience and dedication of those who wield the Force in a galaxy far, far away.
