Get $#!* Done
Getting $#it Done
As a relatively new member of the SiteCrafting team, one of our values stood out to me from the beginning: “Get Shit Done.”
This value — which is super fun to say — is not about rushing through tasks just to cross them off a list; it’s about doing things with intention and dedication, while also showing up for everyone involved. It’s about getting shit done in a way that we’re proud of.
I saw this value in action during my first project with SiteCrafting which was the Association Washington Public Health District’s website. Everyone worked collaboratively and no one worked in silos. The content team worked closely with design and design worked closely with front-end development. It was a natural flow of work that made the project seem effortless. We got shit done and we did it together.
But this value isn’t just about getting things done efficiently. It’s about doing our best for ourselves, each other and our clients. As Brian often reminds us, “We don’t let each other fail.” We push each other to be our best and we work together to make sure that we’re doing what’s best for our clients.
As a project coordinator, I’m at the forefront of the project, and I know that my team and clients are looking to me for guidance. It’s a responsibility that I take seriously. I recently completed a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) course and received my certification. I value the work that needs to be done, knowing that it isn’t always going to be easy. That’s why I appreciate open communication and the ability to ask tough questions. We always stop and ask ourselves if we are working with the best interest of the client in mind. That means we’re not just getting shit done; we’re doing it with heart and with the best intentions.
Looking at this value holistically, I can see why it is a team favorite. It’s a true testament to who SiteCrafting is and what we stand for. We live out all six of our core values with intention, and “Get Shit Done” is both a result and continual work. It’s a standard that we hold ourselves to and it’s why I’m proud to be a part of this team.
Taking Cues from My Cat

Pumpernickle (or Pumpie for short) is the queen of Get Shit Done. If, that is, getting shit done means eating and napping. She knows what she needs and knows how to get it. Pumpie knows when it’s mealtime and is kind enough to remind me every day with excited (demanding) chirps so as not to forget to feed her. Opportunity for a nap? Yes, please. Just as she’s never missed a meal, she’s also never missed a sunny spot in my apartment to rest in.
When we talk about this value at SiteCrafting, we talk about embracing challenges, bettering ourselves and moving forward. In my personal life, this shows up for me when I am prioritizing my well-being — from embracing change and changing my career path to work in tech for the first time to investing in the community and joining a queer rec basketball league. Sometimes this value or concept can get confused for productivity or just doing the thing, but that is not where I see its purpose. I get shit done by showing up for myself and for the people (and cats) around me.
