“Now, more than ever, we believe in this city and we trust in its enduring spirit because it’s made up of people, businesses and organizations who hold firmly to the hope of growth and revitalization.” – Brian Forth, SiteCrafting Founder
It’s times like this that the resilience and tenacity of humankind shines brightest. Though our current crisis has brought uncertainty and confusion, it has also served as a catalyst for collaboration, innovation and creativity across industries.
From ice cream flavors fun enough to melt all of our stay-at-home blues away to soothing virtual walks through our favorite neighborhood parks — we are inspired by the way individuals and organizations are navigating life and business during this disruptive time.
We hope you enjoy this roundup of a few of our favorite businesses and organizations that are connecting with customers and community through creativity and innovation.
Favorite: Food & Drinks
- We love the way 7 Seas is creatively navigating the closure of their tap rooms with Beer Drive-Thrus at both of its locations once a week. Support our small business community and stock up on delicious craft beer without ever stepping out of our cars? Count us in. Mix and match cases, or pre-order a growler to go.
- They say teamwork makes the dream work. Indaba and West Plain Roasters teamed up to create two exclusive poptart flavors; butterscotch and lemon vanilla — and with social feeds just as creative as their tarts, the dream works for this dynamic duo. We love watching great companies get together to make awesome things.
- Cue happy dancing. The Scoop wants to make all of your small batch ice cream dreams come true during quarantine with online pint pre-orders and pickups. With flavors like Cinnachocashew and Black Currant Sour Cream, you really can’t go wrong.Mike from our team recommends you follow his “always go for a double scoop” rule and load up your waffle cone at home with Giants Milk & Cookies and Twinkleberry.
Favorite: Indoor Activities
- Virtual exhibits, online art collections and DIY craft inspiration — oh my! The Tacoma Art Museum is bringing their experience to life digitally with TAM at Home. We love that with a click of a button, we can explore glass art collections by Dale Chihuly, discover Northwest art from the 1930’s or learn how to create emotion sculptures inspired by the art of Hank Murta Adams.
- Shout out to Metro Parks’ Instagram for keeping us connected with our favorite local parks. We love that we can enjoy the tall trees at Wright Park and stroll down the Dash Point Pier while abiding by social distancing orders.
- The Pierce County Library System created a “Hope Grows” audio and e-book reading list in collaboration with MultiCare’s Hope Grows Here project. “From uplifting fiction titles to biographies that inspire to practical advice for caring for yourself when you feel lonely” — we can’t wait to cozy up at home with a steaming cup of tea and dig into this hope-filled list.
Favorite: Office Inspo
- ACU CEO Ken Leonard recently gave each of his 170 employees $50 to use toward any act of kindness of their choice. A few of our team members were so encouraged by their generosity that they made donations to local charities including The Humane Society, local food banks and a GoFundMe for a young girl fighting cancer.
- Team building while remote takes creativity. We created Covid Cohorts, small groups who meet weekly. This week’s activity? Covid Mad Libs. Take a belly-laugh break this afternoon and play with your team.
